Sentry Towers and Territory Control

Overview

Sentry Towers are the primary control points on the Sea of Conquest world map. By capturing and holding Sentry Towers, Gangs expand their territory, connect to ports, and gain access to valuable resources and strategic advantages. This guide covers the mechanics of tower capture, garrison defense, and territory expansion.

Territory Expansion Mechanics

Gangs start with their home port and expand outward by capturing adjacent Sentry Towers. Expansion follows a chain principle:

  • A Sentry Tower can only be attacked if it directly borders an already-controlled tower or port belonging to the Gang.
  • By progressively capturing towers, a connection line is formed from Level 2 ports through Level 3 ports all the way to the Inner Ocean gates.
  • Each Gang can only hold a limited number of Sentry Towers at once. Leaders or R4 members can abandon towers to capture more strategically important positions.

Attacking a Sentry Tower

Requirements: # The target tower borders a tower or port already owned by the Gang. # Enough ships and heroes are available for the attack.

Process: # Tap the desired Sentry Tower on the world map. # Select the “Attack” option. # The ship moves automatically to the tower and initiates combat.

Capture speed can be increased by involving more ships:

  • Level 1 = 2 points per ship
  • Level 4 = 20 points per ship
  • The Gang leader's main ship counts as 3 points

Garrison (Holding a Tower)

After capturing a tower, a Garrison can be placed to defend it against enemy recapture:

# The Gang must own the tower. # Tap the tower → use the “Garrison” button. # The player's ship must remain directly next to the tower for the garrison to remain active. # If the ship leaves the tower, the garrison is dropped.

Attacking a garrison: To recapture an enemy-held tower, the garrison troops must be defeated first. Reach Point requirements vary by garrison strength. Exact values depend on game version

Towers and Ports

Sentry Towers serve as bridges between ports:

  • Capturing a chain of towers establishes a connection to the next higher-tier port.
  • Gang-controlled ports offer members a 20% bonus on selling prices and other benefits.
  • Level 3 ports are the most strategically valuable — connecting to them gives the Gang significant economic advantages.

Strategic Considerations

  • Do not capture towers randomly — prioritize connection lines toward high-value ports.
  • Occupy strategic chokepoints that enemy Gangs must pass through to reach their own ports.
  • Abandon towers that cannot be defended to avoid wasting the tower limit.
  • Coordinate large attacks: multiple Gang members attacking simultaneously capture towers significantly faster.

Tips

  • Always bring multiple ships to a tower attack — Level 4 speed-up requires 20 points and cannot be achieved with a single ship alone.
  • Scout enemy garrisons before launching a counterattack.
  • Regularly check the tower inventory in the Gang menu — a full list blocks new captures.
  • Towers at strategic junctions deserve higher defensive priority than peripheral positions.
