Overview

In Sea of Conquest, heroes are the most critical factor in combat power and game progression. Every ship can accommodate multiple heroes assigned to roles such as Captain, First Mate, and Gunner, influencing both ship stats during naval combat and close-quarters performance in Trials mode. Without well-developed heroes, advancing through higher-level content becomes extremely difficult.

Heroes are primarily recruited through the Sea Soul Mirror artifact, which is unlocked after completing Chapter VI of the Main Plot. This artifact opens the Conch summoning interface, where players exchange Conch currency for hero recruitment attempts. One free daily summon is available on the standard banner, making consistent daily engagement important for free-to-play progress.

Heroes in Sea of Conquest fall into three rarity tiers: Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Orange). Higher rarity brings better base stats, more skill slots, and greater difficulty in obtaining and upgrading. Crucially, a well-developed Epic hero can outperform a low-rank Legendary hero, so rank investment matters more than rarity alone.

Beyond the standard summoning system, additional hero sources include limited-time events, the Guild Emporium, gang events, story mission rewards, and Hero Token exchanges at market stalls. Beginners should prioritize the Starter Banners, which offer guaranteed Legendary heroes within a small number of summons.

Recruitment Currencies: Echo Conch and Hymn Conch

The recruitment system relies on two types of Conch currency. The Echo Conch is the more common variant, used on regular summoning banners. It can be earned daily through Trial completions, chapter milestones (up to six per chapter), and various in-game events.

The Hymn Conch is significantly rarer and is required for time-limited banners with higher chances of specific Epic or Legendary heroes. Primary sources of Hymn Conches include: Hero Token exchanges, the Guild Emporium at Reverence or Worship relation level, the Treasure of Tides at level 20, gang events such as Showdown O' Gangs, and seasonal events.

Conch Type Rarity Primary Sources Usage
Echo Conch Common Trials, chapter milestones, events Standard banners, daily free summon
Hymn Conch Rare Gang events, Guild Emporium, Treasure of Tides Limited banners, higher Legendary rate
Gleaming Conch Very Rare Season events, special events SP hero banners

Summoning Banners and Pity System

The summoning system offers several banner types. The United Front (standard) banner costs one Echo Conch per attempt and guarantees an Epic or higher hero every 10 summons. The Starter Banners are designed for new players: “Hit The Sea” guarantees a Legendary hero within ten summons, and “Hit The Sea II” guarantees one within fifty summons.

Time-limited Limited Recruitment banners use Hymn Conches. A Legendary hero is guaranteed within 80 summons. This pity does not carry over between different limited banners, making it important to save at least 80 Hymn Conches before pulling.

Banner Type Currency Epic Guarantee Legendary Guarantee Notes
United Front (Standard) Echo Conch Every 10 pulls Every 100 pulls 1 free daily pull
Starter Banner I Echo Conch / Story Within 10 pulls Within 10 pulls New players only
Starter Banner II Echo Conch / Story Within 50 pulls New players only
Limited Banner Hymn Conch Every 10 pulls Within 80 pulls Time-limited, specific heroes

Hero Shards and Rank Upgrade System

Each recruitment attempt has a chance to yield 50 hero shards (fragments) directly, which constitutes a full recruit for that hero. Shards can also be accumulated gradually until the threshold is met. 50 shards of a hero unlock that character.

After recruitment, a hero's rank is raised using Hero Badges, earned by summoning duplicate heroes. Each duplicate yields 50 badges. Rank progresses up to level 12, unlocking new skills at key thresholds. A Legendary hero reaches full skill potential at Rank 4, requiring two duplicates. SP heroes require approximately 218 badges (roughly 5 copies) to reach 6 stars.

Rarity Shards to Recruit Badges per Duplicate Rank 4 (All Skills Unlocked) Rank 12 (Maximum)
Rare 50 50 ~2 duplicates ~10 duplicates
Epic 50 50 ~2 duplicates ~10 duplicates
Legendary 50 50 2 duplicates (100 badges) ~10 duplicates
SP Legendary 50 50 2–3 duplicates ~5 duplicates (~218 badges for 6★)

Hero Sources Overview

Multiple avenues exist for obtaining heroes and recruitment materials beyond the standard summoning system. Events, gang activities, and the Guild Emporium all contribute. Legendary heroes Sharky, Lester, and Luna are purchasable in the Guild Emporium once the player reaches Worship-level relations with the Transylvania Trade Company, Golden Pyramid Alliance, and Plantegenest Guild, respectively.

Hero Combat Mechanics

Heroes serve dual roles across two distinct game modes: naval warfare and close combat (Trials). In naval combat, heroes are stationed on ships and improve their statistics. The Constitution value of heroes placed on the Flagship directly increases its Hit Points. In close combat, heroes fight in turn-based rounds and activate skills through a rage system.

Skills are triggered by tapping the hero portrait once sufficient rage is accumulated. Some skills have cooldown timers. Using healing skills from Support heroes at the right moment is essential for team survival. The recommended beginner crew placement is: Armstrong as Gunner, Ahab as Captain, and Madame Lulu as First Mate.

Season Heroes and Cross-Season Availability

Heroes are tied to specific seasons, indicated by labels S1, S2, and so on. Limited season heroes from past seasons are typically unavailable through regular banners and may only return through event reruns. This makes timely acquisition of seasonal heroes particularly important. As seasons progress, the Adventure Level cap also increases — 50 in Season 1, 80 in Season 2, and 100 in Season 3.

Tips

  • Beginner priority: Use the Starter Banners first to secure guaranteed Legendary heroes. Then commit to the free daily pull on the standard banner every day.
  • Save your Hymn Conches: Always accumulate at least 80 Hymn Conches before pulling on a Limited Banner to guarantee a Legendary hero.
  • Rank over breadth: Invest deeply into a few heroes to reach Rank 4 and unlock all skills, rather than spreading resources across many underpowered heroes.
  • Buy duplicates: If you rely heavily on a specific Legendary hero, purchasing duplicates from market stalls is worthwhile for the badge gains.
  • Build Guild Relations: Work toward Worship level with a guild that offers a Legendary hero in the Emporium — Sharky, Lester, and Luna are strong long-term targets.
  • Do not miss gang events: Showdown O' Gangs is one of the few reliable sources of Hymn Conches. Regular gang participation pays off significantly.
  • Epic vs. Legendary heroes: A 6-star Epic hero often outperforms a 2-star Legendary in the same role. Swap heroes based on current rank and formation needs.
  • Treasure of Tides: Complete all weekly tasks to collect Tide Points and level your chest to 20 — at this level, Hymn Conches become available.
